Course #2 (Turtle Island and Back) was a short and sweet race in some great sailing conditions. Beautiful weather. Tri-Again had a brilliant starting plan - start on starboard tack, pick a spot on the line and go! But this was foiled when we were a bit early and found ourselves trapped beneath a certain small boat who was going sideways. This caused us to start quite late after going the wrong direction for nearly a minute longer than we wanted to. We quickly got underway, but it was clear that with the lighter air and chop, our boat would not point like the others on the upwind leg. Delilah, Bad Idea, and Sea-Turtle took the front positions and our all-family crew was able to relax and enjoy the evening from our solid 4th place position. I had words with the offending boat, and also asked the website administrator to create a new finish code - DNJ (Did Not Jam) since the little pesky boat found themselves so far behind that they used their spinnaker on the last leg. And in other news... Delilah exacted her revenge on us for Race#1's photo finish.. they beat us out for 3rd place by 5 seconds tonight. WOW! Nice one ladies! |
